A seasoned Attorney and Notary Public, Ricardo León Retana brings over 25 years of international legal expertise, specialising in corporate, regulatory, financing, commercial, and contractual law. His career encompasses high-stakes negotiations, cross-border transactions, and compliance strategies, working with governmental entities, global service providers, and private sector leaders—particularly in the aviation and loyalty industries.

As Legal Director & General Counsel at LifeMiles Ltd. and Avianca Loyalty, Ricardo oversees complex legal structures, strategic partnerships, and regulatory frameworks across Latin America. Previously, he spent 15 years with Avianca (formerly TACA Airlines), playing a pivotal role in fleet acquisition, financing, and aircraft maintenance agreements. During his tenure as a freelance consultant, he collaborated with ALTA (Latin American & Caribbean Air Transport Association) and contributed as a speaker at industry-leading legal conferences.

Ricardo holds an Executive International MBA from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Law degree from Universidad Dr. José Matías Delgado in El Salvador. Fluent in English and Spanish, he is recognised for his strategic legal acumen, negotiation expertise, and deep understanding of the aviation and loyalty sectors.
