Roberto Murillo Murillo

Roberto Murillo Murillo is an attorney with over 16 years of experience, specialising in telecommunications, regulation, and corporate law for the past 6 years. He began his career as an Associate Lawyer at the law firm BLP and is currently the Director of Legal, Regulation, and Corporate Affairs at Telecable, a leading telecommunications company in Costa Rica.

In his current role, Roberto is responsible for managing Telecable’s regulatory relationship with the Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUTEL) and the MICITT, as well as representing the company before business associations. Since 2019, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of INFOCOM, the business chamber representing the telecommunications sector in Costa Rica.

As part of his strategic and leadership role at Telecable, Roberto led the implementation of the Compliance Program in 2020, with the support of the Board of Directors. This initiative distinguished Telecable within the telecommunications sector and positioned the company as a leader in corporate reputation and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives, earning recognition from MERCO, Revista SUMMA, and other organisations. He is also a member of the company’s Sustainability Committee, which is responsible for executing its sustainability, ESG, and Compliance strategies.

Additionally, Roberto managed the regulatory process and corporate structure for obtaining the necessary concessions and regulatory licenses from the Autoridad Nacional de Servicios Públicos (ASEP) in Panama, facilitating Telecable’s expansion into Panama under the TELCA brand, with the company beginning operations there in 2024.

Roberto is recognised for his leadership in the legal and regulatory aspects of telecommunications, his ability to implement strategic compliance programmes, and his key role in expanding Telecable’s footprint into new markets.
