Corporación Multi Inversiones
Multinational conglomerate Corporación Multi Inversiones (CMI) is one of the most powerful corporations in Central America. With over 300 companies that operate across seven sectors, accounting for 30,000 employees in 13 countries, CMI‘s activities are broad enough to challenge even the most experienced legal team. Fortunately, the conglomerate employs an exceptional Guatemala based legal operation that has consistently provided exceptional legal advice across M&A, intellectual property and ownership structures. With CMI having recently been active in the energy sector, the legal team showcased its excellent transactional skills by facilitating the purchase of Globeleq Mesoamérica Energía in 2017. The acquisition added 394MW to the company’s portfolio, including some emblematic projects, such as Cerro de Hula in Honduras, Eolo in Nicaragua and Plantas Eólicas SRL, Orosi and Alisios in Costa Rica. A few years earlier, the team also impressed with its involvement in CMI’s landmark 40% purchase of Telefónica’s Central American business for $500m. The unit features a number of exceptional lawyers, with legal manager Monica Leal and legal specialist Lourdes Leal Orellana receiving special mentions from sources.
