DELSUR
Salvadoran electricity company DELSUR is dedicated to the distribution, transmission and commercialisation of electricity. It provides energy mainly to the south-central zone of the country serving more than 300,000 customers with a distribution network of over 6000km. Members of the in-house legal team at DELSUR have vast experience of handling legal matters in several areas and stand out for having a diverse background that, when combined, makes them the strong team that they are today. Because of the nature of DELSUR’s business, the team are highly focused on energy matters and coordinate all legal issues with the company’s clients, suppliers, government institutions, financial institutions, employees and trade union organisations. Noticed by peers for their wide breadth of skills, the legal function has been commended by nominators because ‘their exceptional capacity makes it a pleasure to work with them’. The team is led by Claudia Tomasino, an ‘extraordinary’ lawyer who, thanks to her versatility, has performed a variety of roles from successfully conducting various collective bargaining negotiations, preparing and obtaining positive results in arbitrations, legal advice on M&As, and managing all aspects of the national and regional electricity market. One nominator adds: ‘Her team and colleagues respect and admire her for her experience in the field. It is a pleasure working with them’. It is this respect and cohesion that contributes to the success and reputation of the legal team being a well organised and highly efficient function. In the past two years, DELSUR’s legal team has been heavily occupied in coordinating important public tenders for the supply of renewable energy, a key area of activity for the company.
