Bayer, the global German enterprise specialising in health care, nutrition and high tech materials, has consistently created value through innovation, growth and high earning power in the Hungarian market. With a presence in the country established since 1969, today the company’s specifically designated Hungarian subsidiary employs a workforce of over 200 professionals in its Budapest office. Headed by general counsel for law and compliance Szilvia Bognar, Bayer’s highly efficient legal team in Hungary impresses with its provision of strong legal support to the company’s pharmaceuticals, consumer health, crop science, radiology and animal health divisions. The department has also demonstrated best-in-class transactional expertise, most recently, by supporting the acquisition of Monsanto’s Hungary assets, which will see Bayer sell some of the world’s leading herbicides in Hungary. Having joined the company in February 2014, Bognar has been credited for excellent skills in corporate law and intellectual property, and strong leadership skills necessary to forge such a well organised legal department. Her past experience has helped her in this sense, with previous lead positions held at Nestlé and law firm Krankovics Pànszky Arva.
