Incorporated in 1990 and based in Warsaw, Johnson & Johnson’s Polish subsidiary has developed into one of the leading providers of pharmaceutical products and cosmetics in the country. The company operates a large but highly flexible and well integrated legal department, whose understanding not just of corporate law, but of the intricacies of the European medical devices and diagnostics industry has been well identified by industry commentators. The team’s superlative skills in competition law, public procurement, reimbursement, external affairs, M&A, intellectual property. Legal director for Poland and Baltics Magdalena Żak, joined the company in 2012 and has since been credited for a lot of the team’s achievements, as well as individually for her professionalism in dealing with stakeholders and clients. One of her first, and most impressive, feats at the company has included implemented changes that cater for the new Reimbursement Act in Poland. Żak joined the company from Johnson & Johnson’s major competitor Bayer, where over a period of over five years she impressed with her skills in pharmaceutical, corporate and intellectual property law.
