A study by the Economica Institute for Economic Research found that Novomatic plays a very significant role in the Austrian economy, and it currently employs around 3,500 people and is one of Austria’s largest taxpayers. Novomatic is one of the world’s largest gaming and gambling technology companies and earned €1.3bn in gross production value in 2017 alone. It produces a diverse product portfolio of land based gaming products and services including cash management systems as well as online, mobile and digital platforms. To handle this heavily regulated industry Novomatic employs a world class legal team led by Alexander Legat, head of legal, responsible for the company’s data protection, IP, gambling regulation, commercial aspects and all other legal responsibilities of the company. Novomatic has announced the launch along with its partners of a Corporate Coding Academy (CCA) a training site for company game developers in the making designed to create the next junior game developers. It has also announced the extension of its partnership with the Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Vienna) to study addiction prevention, which has been running since 2006.
