About

Itaú Corpbanca is one of the largest banks in Chile with operations also in Colombia and Panama, a New York branch and representative offices in Lima, Peru and Madrid, Spain. Overseeing all legal matters of the bank is corporate legal manager and secretary of the board Cristián Toro Cañas, a highly experienced lawyer whose in-house career started over 20 years ago in 1997. After almost 11 years at Citibank, first as chief counsel of Citigroup’s corporate banking and investment banking division in Chile, and then as general counsel, Toro was legal vice president of LATAM Airlines for over eight years. He returned to the financial sector in June 2016 by joining Itaú Corpbanca to take his current position and has contributed effectively towards the bank since then. He most notably dealt with an important arbitration and matters pertaining to the dissolution of the bank’s subsidiary, Corplegal.
