Focus on: my career

I am an attorney graduate from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, master’s in business law at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez; also graduated in corporate governance at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; diploma in insurance brokerage from the SVS (today the Comisión para el Mercado Financiero).

In 1997 I graduated as a lawyer and began my career at Aseguradora Magallanes, an insurance company, where I worked for eight years. In 2005, I took on a new challenge, working at Banco Estado as a senior lawyer, advising the bank’s board and its subsidiaries. Then I became leader of the corporate and finance team, and attester of the executive committee of the bank. In 2011, I was appointed director of Banco Estado Corredores de Bolsa.

In 2013, I was invited to be the general counsel of Banco Falabella. I spent five years there, working on improving the legal team’s efficiency and performance, and the digitalisation of financial services for mass segment.

In October 2018, I came back as general counsel of Banco Estado, a public entity that covers all client’s segments, a universal bank. My greatest challenge here was to technologically upgrade the legal area, empowering and encouraging the first professional category team that makes up this company.

After almost four years, during which time we worked hard to digitalise legal services, eliminate the use of paper, and train 80 people who work here in the efficient use of technological tools acquired by the bank, we re-styled the facilities of Banco Estado´s legal area, under a co-work format, which meant not only a change in physical spaces, but also a new way of working as a team, with the dynamism of technological instruments, improving quality and consistency of legal advice, where tradition and modernity, law and innovation are combined.

This achievement was possible because we knew how to combine female and male talent. And as the first female general counsel in the history of Banco Estado, I have witnessed how men and women work collaboratively, that we are more, we empower ourselves, and we achieve great goals. We have reached the objective. But it is only the beginning of new challenges.
