Legal and HR corporate director | FORUS
Focus on legal success
In the exercise of the profession, and especially as general counsel of a multinational retail company, it is essential to know the business from its core, having a global vision, especially accentuated in the commercial aspect. Knowledge of the diverse cultures involved is essential, in addition to having a handle on the different legislations and their bases of application. Retail in its essence is vastly different from the practice of a lawyer; it is dynamic and changing; it moves with the market and all the factors that affect it. Today, after the pandemic, with an ongoing war and volatile economic and financial indicators, adaptability is what is important within all companies, and the legal area is no exception. For this reason, knowing the business in depth is the most important thing in the exercise of the director.
On the other hand, from the internal point of view seen from the headquarters, the political changes that we are experiencing are so radical that it is extremely important to know how to convey the need of legal stability to our internal and external collaborators. The understanding between the parties, and reaching beneficial agreements for all sides under the new conditions, has become more complex and more important, thus the ability to achieve this goal is one of the most appreciated at this time. I only hope that the future will bring us all a better world in which globalisation is the tool to overcome the barriers that we put up as a society.
