What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
I can say that we have a very comprehensive team of lawyers, assessing all the different areas of the legal business and that we were involved in all transactions, tenders, mergers and acquisitions, permit applications and judicial proceedings that the company undertook during 2022.
How do you suggest in-house lawyers build strong relationships with business partners?
For in-house lawyers it is essential to have strong relationships with their business partners, whether inside or outside the organisation. To do this, my main recommendation to all the lawyers I have worked with is that they must understand the business and speak in a commercial language with business partners, otherwise they will be disappointed or avoid consulting with in-house lawyers. If you only talk about the law and what it permits or prohibits, partners will not feel that the lawyer is really helping them progress business or business deals. It is therefore essential to be commercial when applying the law or advising business partners.
If existent, can you talk about you or your company’s efforts relating to renewability, sustainability or other environmentally friendly activities?
Our company has a strong sustainability strategy and policy, which involves a number of activities and plans, such as a climate change statement and commitments, and a sustainability committee that meets quarterly and involves all chief officers of the company.
