What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

As part of the company´s new management team, we have, in the last year, worked on strengthening the internal controls of various business processes for the purposes of avoiding or minimising possible contingencies that may occur. Likewise, we actively work to improve our community relations strategy by identifying possible impacts to effectively manage them so that we can establish and maintain a real, permanent connection with all our communities. Along with the aforementioned, we have conducted trainings and periodic meetings with our workers and main stakeholders with the intention of disseminating our corporate values to enhance our overall organisational culture.

How important is choosing to work with external lawyers who align with your company’s values? Are you likely to reconsider what firms you work with based on this?

For us, it is particularly important to share our purpose and business values with external lawyers, who provide support with the regular processes of the company for us. Our principles drive us in decision-making, guiding our behaviours, and are the linchpin of growth. Our external lawyers are, in short, strategic partners who provide a global and objective external view based on their experience, making the best decisions in a timely manner for each case. Following that line, we will always prioritise working collaboratively with law firms that align with our business vision.

Why are in-house lawyers well-placed to drive change in their organisations?

In-house lawyers are in an excellent position to help manage changes within companies because they know, in detail, how various areas of the company are managed. Indeed, the in-house lawyer, during his daily work, interacts with all departments of the company, which not only allows him to identify possible operational risks, but also permits him to be able to recognise opportunities for process improvement to promote effective changes through the creation of concrete solutions. Our daily challenge is to create sensitivity to legal issues and lead a legal culture within the organisation, so that each person who works in a company knows the legal frameworks in which we all operate.
