Spotlight on: My career

Cristián Venegas-Puga is the head of the legal and compliance teams at BTG Pactual Chile and Peru, serving as the corporate general counsel of the BTG Pactual Group in both countries. Mr. Venegas-Puga joined the BTG Pactual Group in 2012 and became associate partner in 2018. Prior to joining the BTG Pactual Group, Mr. Venegas-Puga worked at Moneda Asset Management and previously at Banco de Chile, for more than eight years.

From 2005 to 2016, Mr. Venegas-Puga taught Commercial Law, Bankruptcy and Corporations at Diego Portales University School of Law, in Santiago, where he also served as the head of the Business Law Department and member of the Academic Council of the Law School. Since 2022, Mr. Venegas-Puga teaches Commercial Law at Universidad de los Andes, Law School, where he also participates in the Business Law postgraduate program offered by that Law School, on the Financing and Investment Funds related courses. During 2007 and part of 2008, he worked as a foreign associate in Mayer Brown, in Washington D.C., United States of America. Mr. Venegas-Puga received his law degree from Diego Portales University, School of Law, in Santiago, Chile, and a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, United States of America.
