How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
To successfully manage legal aspects within an organisation during periods of instability or crises, a multifaceted approach is required. This approach should emphasise communication, deep analysis, and teamwork to align the legal strategy with the broader business strategy and ensure the organisation’s resilience.
Clear and transparent communication is vital. Establish open channels with all stakeholders, including employees, clients, public authorities, and partners. Regular updates on legal developments and strategic decisions help maintain trust and ensure that everyone is informed and aligned.
Likewise, a thorough analysis of the legal landscape is crucial, especially in a crisis. This involves identifying potential risks, assessing their impact, and developing mitigation strategies. By conducting a deep analysis of existing contracts, regulatory requirements, and potential liabilities, it is possible to anticipate challenges and proactively address them.
Finally, collaboration across departments ensures a cohesive response to crises. Working closely with other company departments and external advisors to develop and implement legal strategies that support the organisation’s goals fosters a unified approach, where legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession shortly, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain Technology are significantly transforming today’s legal practices.
On the one hand, AI is creating important changes in areas such as legal research, due diligence, and contract analysis. On the other hand, Blockchain offers secure and immutable records, which represents a major improvement in areas such as property records and intellectual property rights.
I participate in legal tech conferences and workshops to stay updated on these developments and learn about the latest advancements.
In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently (these can be legal, political, economy or business-based)?
One of the current main trends in Chile is the significant expansion of its renewable energy capacity, with a focus on solar energy in the north region and wind energy in the south to facilitate green hydrogen production. This expansion is in line with Chile’s public policy goal to produce the world’s cheapest green hydrogen by 2030.
The Chilean government actively supports the development of the green hydrogen industry through strategic initiatives such as the National Green Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plan. These initiatives involve adapting current regulatory frameworks, providing incentives for investments, and fostering international partnerships.
This aligns with how companies and investors prioritise projects that contribute to decarbonisation and align with global sustainability goals, thereby enhancing Chile’s reputation as a leader in renewable energy and green hydrogen.
