Focus on: Key aspects of the functions of the in-house lawyer
The main function of the in-house lawyer is to be able to provide the company with timely, truthful, and business-oriented legal advice, detecting and mitigating the risks that may arise in the development of the company’s various activities.
Our involvement in all areas of the company allows in-house counsel to have a comprehensive and broad view of all aspects of the company’s business, requiring us to be hands-on and always anticipate problems with solutions to any problem that may arise.
In this same vision, it is also very important to empower each of the members of the internal legal teams, so that they contribute successfully to the different areas of a business, as well as provide them with all the information that allows them to advise clearly and properly.
In this current volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment, it is very important that in-house lawyers can quickly adapt to new changes and business needs, providing added value in all legal activities of the company. Leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential in this process of constant change.
As a final thought, legal teams are becoming internal business partners. The broad internal vision of the different risks that can affect the company allows the in-house lawyer to propose strategies, as well as mitigation measures for the relevant risks presented by new and ever-changing business models.
