How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
During periods of crisis or instability, it is crucial to define priorities and address urgent matters efficiently to prevent any unexpected events from disrupting the company’s operations. Having an advisory team that thoroughly understands the company’s situation is essential for identifying and mitigating legal risks. To ensure that the legal strategy remains aligned with the business strategy, maintaining open and continuous communication with other key areas of the company is vital. This approach allows business decisions to consistently consider and integrate the relevant legal aspects.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
To integrate and promote sustainability practices, our company has adopted environmental and quality policies, conducted internal audits, and developed risk matrices and procedures. We also produce an annual sustainability report in accordance with the GRI standards and maintain a crime prevention model certified by an independent third party, which is currently being updated to reflect recent legal changes in our country. The legal advisor plays a crucial role in implementing and executing these practices. Their responsibilities include fostering a compliance culture through ongoing distribution, communication, and training on these matters.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
It is undeniable that AI will have a tremendous impact on the legal profession, mainly due to its ability to review and analyse large amounts of data quickly, making legal tasks more efficient. Additionally, legal management platforms have proliferated, each bringing innovations that will make them indispensable for the proper management of law firms in the near future. I stay up to date with these advancements through specialised legal publications and professional social networks.
