How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?

The key is to always maintain a close relationship with all the company’s stakeholders, closely following national and international events. Be very clear about the principles and values that drive the company and make decisions informed by different points of view, based on them. The advice of legal departments therefore rises far beyond purely regulatory risks and becomes fundamental to the long-term sustainability of a company.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?

Artificial intelligence, from infrastructure services to train models, through the use of pre-trained models for specific use cases, to applications that offer artificial intelligence solutions, are clearly the driving force of innovation today. Artificial intelligence will impact by facilitating decision-making in the legal profession, simplifying and accelerating tasks to focus on the issues of greatest value. The use of educational programs, training and certifications is a good way to stay up to date, however, the offer is so wide that enrolling in courses, seminars or following blogs of people of interest is also appropriate.

In your opinion, what are the main trends that are salient in your country currently (these can be legal, political, economy or business-based)?

In matters where technology more directly impacts our work, updates in cybersecurity, data protection and artificial intelligence will certainly occupy us in the coming years. The key will be to be able to appropriately combine all the principles at play, in order to promote technological advance.
