During periods of instability or crisis, my approach centers on safeguarding the core interests we aim to preserve, while clearly communicating the non-negotiable boundaries to the entire organization, ensuring alignment with the broader business strategy. I believe it is crucial to offer creative solutions to the challenges we face, in a way that meets the needs of other internal stakeholders.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
As an oil and gas company, it is crucial to integrate our approach to energy transition into our business strategy, balancing this with our responsibility to provide affordable energy solutions to the population and industry in the country. The General Counsel plays a key role by facilitating legal solutions for new developments related to energy transition and ensuring that our operations comply with current and future regulations.
How do you prioritise diversity and inclusion within your legal department, and what initiatives have you implemented to foster a more inclusive and equitable work environment?
My team is highly diverse, with an almost 50/50 split between men and women. Therefore, my primary challenge is not just achieving inclusion but fostering an inclusive work environment that enables all team members to balance their family and work lives. It is crucial to provide everyone with opportunities for promotion and learning while also respecting their personal interests and ensuring that their personal and family time is valued.
