General counsel | Camanchaca
How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
This is achieved through two pathways: on one hand, anticipating the authority’s criteria by seeking operational excellence to adequately meet legal and social requirements, compliance with which is necessary for the business’s viability.
The second effort involves effectively socialising within the organisation, with a particular emphasis on corporate governance, the importance of adopting measures to mitigate risks of legal non-compliance, a challenge that has cultural dimensions.
What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?
The sustainability of the business depends on conducting operations that are appropriate and transparent, allowing the community to form an accurate opinion of our activities and their contribution to the country’s development and the promotion of the consumption of high-nutritional-value proteins. The production of these proteins is the most environmentally friendly compared to other protein sources.
Efforts in this regard focus on building relationships with communities and authorities, forming public-private partnerships to achieve shared goals. The legal department’s mission is to ensure that this is the result of coordination efforts rather than opposition with our various stakeholders.
