During periods of instability or crisis, my approach focuses on three key elements: risk assessment, teamwork with cross-functional teams, and swift decision-making.

For risk assessment, I identify and prioritise potential legal issues arising from the crisis by leveraging various tools and sources to monitor the situation and anticipate its impact on our organization. I consult with internal stakeholders to understand their concerns and challenges, and I seek advice from external experts and partners to gain additional insights.

In terms of teamwork, I collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align our legal strategy with the broader business strategy. This involves working with leaders and managers to ensure a unified vision and goal for navigating the crisis, and coordinating with functions such as finance, communications, and human resources to provide comprehensive legal support.

For decision-making, I focus on making prompt and informed choices to address emerging challenges and opportunities. I balance speed with accuracy, using data and evidence to guide my decisions. Clear and timely communication with all stakeholders, including employees, customers, and partners, is crucial. I also ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws while safeguarding the interests and reputation of our organisation.

What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?  

Given that technology is at the core of my company’s business and taking advantage of the AI momentum transforming the legal landscape, several emerging technologies are significantly impacting the legal profession. One such advancement is the use of artificial intelligence to automate routine tasks and enhance the efficiency of legal services. These tools allow my team and I to save time and resources, which can then be redirected towards more in-depth legal analysis, adding value to our services, and engaging in further training on these tools or other relevant subjects for the organization.

As technology is central to our business, I stay updated on these developments daily and participate in training sessions and meetings to optimize the use of these solutions. Additionally, I advocate for the responsible use of AI among peers, client legal departments, and the broader legal community.
