Banco del Estado de Chile (BancoEstado)
Chilean state-run bank BancoEstado serves clients of all types, ranging from large corporates to middle markets and government entities as well as retail customers. To provide adequate legal advice to the bank, besides its core knowledge relating to the sector, its legal department must be well versed in the technicalities of a broad range of personal, corporate and government banking products and services, including, but not limited to, insurance, mutual funds, treasury services, trade finance and liability management. The extent to which the team is able to mobilise its resources, adapt and find novel solutions when tackling legal issues related to each of these products has been a source of amazement for many people inside the company. Álvaro Larraín Fierro, in his role of general counsel, heads the legal department that contains a number of outstanding lawyers who have made individual impressions during this year’s research process including, among others, Viviana Lopez and Andres Acevedo Leniz.
