CMPC
CMPC, one of the largest pulp and paper companies globally, has in excess of 40 industrial and forest facilities across eight countries in Latin America. It has a crossborder legal department, which consists of over 10 professionals, and has been created by Rafael Cox to supervise legal aspects conducted by CMPC and its numerous affiliates. Cox, who has supervised the department since the start of the century, reports directly to the CEO and takes a proactive role in maintaining relations with relevant regulatory bodies in each market where the company does business. In addition to managing all external lawyers who render services in the company in each market, Cox and his team are a meaningful participant to the decision making process on a senior level and oversee regulatory compliance. Both the size and scope of CMPC’s legal team are likely to expand further in coming years, as the company is looking to grow its operations in each jurisdiction.
