SAESA Group’s immense national operation, which serves approximately 760,000 utilities customers between the regions of Bío Bío and Aysen, in the south of Chile, generates high quantities of work for Christine Hoelck and her highly rated team of lawyers. To deal with such high workloads Hoelck has spent considerable amount of time during her near decade-long tenure as a corporate and legal head at the company streamlining processes, introducing technical improvements and coming up with new ways to position her team as closely as possible to SAESA’s commercial activities. Described by one nominator as an ‘outstanding general counsel’ and one who ‘always maintains focus and clarity on legal issues’, Hoelck is also credited for hiring most of the team’s existing talent. Carola Seguel Vásquez, for instance, one of her earliest appointments, has been an indispensable element of the team’s legal support since 2010 thanks to her advice to the concessions and easements areas. Newer additions, such as Gabriela Obregón Siegmund have also contributed significantly to the team’s success.
