China Railway Construction Corporation
The China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) is China’s largest construction company operating numerous projects across the world. The state owned entity is dual listed on the Hong Kong and Shanghai stock exchanges with a registered capital of RMB13.58bn, with other funding coming from the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council of China (SASAC). The company’s legal department is led by Xiuming Wang, chief accountant and general legal counsel, and covers company matters across commercial, contractual, employment and resources in many foreign jurisdictions. CRCC builds more than just railways; it covers contracting, survey work, industrial manufacturing, real estate development, logistics and other commercial and financial enterprises. Its legal team is therefore required to be skilled in a number of areas. In the last year, CRCC has completed two major projects which members of the team were involved on. The first was the Mecca-Medina high speed rail line, connecting the two important Saudi Arabian cities with Jeddah, Rābigh, and King Abdullah Economic City. In the second major project, the company completed the Four Seasons Hotel Project in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in partnership with other businesses acting as the project’s general contractor.
