Daimler Greater China
Daimler Greater China’s legal team is led by head of integrity and legal Matt Kendrick, an extremely experienced general counsel whose decade-long period in the automotive industry – beginning with Mercedes-Benz in the US – was preceded by lengthy tenures at Stevens International Corporation and Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses, the latter of which culminated in a role as general counsel. He and his team have been responsible for a significant level of success for Daimler and its subsidiaries – particularly Mercedes-Benz – in China, with further pioneering objectives scheduled by the team for completion. One such endeavour is the introduction of an upmarket ride-hailing service in conjunction with Chinese manufacturer Geely, initially in Hangzhou, which is intended to capture part of this lucrative market for Daimler. The software for this service will be produced by both Daimler and Geely and will make use of Mercedes cars initially to provide a premium service; the culmination of this deal, which will leverage both companies’ competences, was achieved because of a major contribution made by the Daimler Greater China legal function.
