The significant growth of Faurecia Group has seen it significantly increase in size in recent years, embarking on a digital transformation that has required the legal department to keep up with the speed of the transformation, capable of anticipating the needs of a decentralised organisation, located in more than 35 countries within its three business groups. The legal department is made up of 33 in-house counsel located in ten countries, and has created an optimal legal grid enabling a closer relationship with operations which has over the years seen them take part in 40 joint ventures. The China legal team is led by the Asia general counsel who leads a team of three experts in their field, covering the perimeter of China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. In total the Asia perimeter represents 71 legal entities, assisting 20,000 employees. The China legal team performs the majority of legal work in-house while consulting external legal services in a few antitrust cases, limiting the number of external law firms to three. Its areas of operations include M&A, competition law, litigations, real estate, IT agreements, digital topics, personal data protection, corporate matters and legal compliance. The team makes sure each operation has easy and clear access to legal counsel, bringing on board legal experts in key fields to enhance risk management, and acting as strong proposition makers, particularly in terms of governance.
