Since then, it has provided fully-integrated financial services across China, with offices in major business hubs such as Beijing and Shenzhen becoming highly renowned for their reliable and seamless financial services. The legal department supports the firm’s technology and data, operations and risk management functions and advises domestic and international clients on projects of financing, restructuring, M&A advisory, private equity and real estate funds. The department is led by chief legal officer and executive director, Cheng Wang, who oversees all legal matters and supervises investment banking transactions. In 2010, Morgan Stanley established its China headquarters in Shanghai and in 2011 formed Morgan Stanley Huaxin Securities, a securities joint venture focusing on China’s domestic capital markets. The legal function has been integral to facilitating ventures of this nature in a highly effective fashion. The department’s rich experience of balancing risks and strategic goals to reach agreements has been extremely effective when dealing with the ever-changing Chinese financial legal environment.
