A team of four professionals led by chief counsel for Greater China Lei Ouyang, the Thomson Reuters legal team in China has enacted ‘some major changes’ in the past two years, as Ouyang explains: ‘As well as personnel changes, we have undergone a corporate restructuring and managed the effects of shareholder change as well’. The team has managed to achieve success with its support of a number of company projects in addition to these large scale efforts: ‘The China legal team has contributed significantly to Blackstone’s recent purchase of 55% of Thomson Reuters financial and risk business globally in terms of antitrust filing, contract assignment, license update, labour issues and other matters.
