UCB
UCB is a major biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Brussels with an international reputation for excellence in the research, development and production of medicines in neurology and immunology. Its global revenue was €4.5bn in 2017 and globally it employs 7,500 people. UCB has had a strong presence in China since 1996 where it is regarded as one of the country’s top neurology research and drug production facilities. Managing the company’s innovative research and production from a legal perspective is a major task involving considerable expertise in IP, patents and regulations within this highly scrutinised industry. The in-house legal team at UCB in China has these attributes and demonstrated an abundance of skill within legal aspects of the pharmaceutical industry. Led by Thomas Chabanis, associate general counsel and head of legal Asia-Pacific, the team is involved in all legal aspects of the company’s operations including the launch of new medicines, such as its 2018 registered, patented Parkinson’s treatment “NEUPRO” among many others.
