What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

In 2020, we were able to close a corporate refinancing of approximately US$189m with Itau Corpbanca as the leading bank to refinance most of the company´s corporate debt and get resources for expansion projects and working capital. This transaction involved multiple jurisdictions and counterparties, as well as documents and contracts; it was particularly challenging given that all of it had to be coordinated remotely.

What will be the main focus for the company in the next 12 months and how do you intend to assist with this?

During the past two years, the company has focused on returning to pre-pandemic numbers. This has involved a lot of changes and adjustments in many areas of the company — personnel and processes, among others. The pandemic left us with a lot of lessons, and many of the changes introduced for the pandemic are here to stay. Therefore, our focus will be to leverage all those lessons, not only to get to pre-pandemic numbers but also to improve the way in which we provide vacation services and to grow our business by integrating all these new ways of travelling.

If you had to give advice to an aspiring in-house lawyer or general counsel, what would it be and why?

I would say that working at a company sometimes requires the capacity to see and understand the whole picture to provide creative and practical legal advice. Always be open to understanding the needs of the business and support all corporate decisions with a solid legal background.
