General legal counsel | Manuelita
What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
Our legal team managed to prove to the Colombian state the right of ownership of its rural real estate with original property titles issued by the Spanish Crown in the period between 1595 and 1631.
How do you feel the pandemic has changed the world of work for in-house counsel and the function of the general counsel?
The pandemic changed the way lawyers work in general. The mandatory use of technological tools in daily work also allowed us to make more efficient use of time, by avoiding unnecessary long trips for short meetings and trials. However, this has also represented a challenge for in-house lawyers who have seen their space and family time reduced by excessive work meetings.
What can law firms do to improve their service to the legal department?
Law firms should improve their knowledge of the processes of their recurring clients, scheduling visits to their facilities to understand their needs, and not delegate the direct attention of matters of great importance to junior lawyers who do not have the necessary experience.
