Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

I believe that one of the most efficient ways to innovate in a team and without significant expense is to structure a multidisciplinary team, take advantage of individual skills and talents, and develop teamwork. This way, the company invests in quality talent, and this becomes a long-term gain for the team and for the company.

Can you foresee any key developments to the way general counsel work over the next five years?

Key developments that we expect to see in the future include artificial intelligence, changes in politics, technological advances, and the need to be more sustainable. Therefore, in-house counsel will have to innovate and create strategies to make processes more flexible and focus on finding new ways to continue in business but without affecting communities or the environment.

What are some of the main trends impacting the industry sector you work in in Colombia?

One of the main trends currently in Colombia is the need to focus more on non-conventional renewable energies. It is a challenge for companies to start investing in renewable energies and take advantage of natural resources without harming the environment. it means large investments and even an analysis and evaluation of the sector’s regulatory framework in Colombia.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, you are passionate about, and why?

Colombia is a country that still has many needs at the economic and industrial level. There are still territories that do not have energy, a basic public service. For this reason, innovation, research, and investment are key to the development of the country and to provide basic services to territories that still do not have it.
