Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

I have used the internal IT resources to automatise our internal clients’ requests and to improve our area procedures developing workflows, that allows me to stablish and measure KPI´s, making more efficient our client service attention and in general to our corporate goals.

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?

Our organisation and its companies are constantly pursuing environmental certifications worldwide recognised to have the best practices in each of its procedures and operations, guaranteeing the respect to environment, diversity and equality of opportunities, which are the principles that make any company really sustainable through the years and the generations, especially in a family organisation.

What challenges have you encountered in implementing effective risk management practices, and how have you overcome them?

The main challenge is to identify the risks in each one of the companies I work for and in general for the organization, as all of them are very dissimilar; once they have been identified we have to define the best course of action to avoid them, if possible or to take remedies if they occur. To make this task relevant it is necessary to involve the managers committee, they must realize the economic and reputational losses they can avoid when the risks are clearly identified, measured and the possible solutions have been analysed and quantified in terms of time and economical resources invested.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, you are passionate about, and why?

I love this question. I have been very passionate from more than years now in topics related with ESG in general, but specially its application to family companies as they are a very important player in our economy and the success in their succession processes guarantee its survival along the time and its sustainability assure the necessary stability for their stakeholders, shareholders, board directors, employees and their families, providers, clients and so on. These companies need to be educated and accompanied in their processes to make them successful and to ensure they will continue being profitable according to its founders’ principles.
