Could you share an example of a time when you came up with an innovation that improved how your legal team works and did not come at a large expense?

As legal counsel – team manager of a hub that provides remote legal services to the lawyers part of the legal department based in different geographies around the hemisphere, one of the innovations that we have recently implemented is the way of monthly task reporting by the attorneys in the team.

Can you foresee any key developments to the way general counsel work over the next five years?

Particularly for companies that have operations in several geographic markets, it is key to apply and expand our knowledge and competencies, not only to attend the country where we received the legal degree but also to support across all countries in the geography. Therefore, the general counsel work will acquire an ultra-knowledge of law at a transnational level, making us professionals much more valuable for the company where we are located and those that may require our services, considering how the business needs evolved after Covid-19. It is key that by being able to provide our services remotely, we begin to support crossing borders under the knowledge of worldwide legislation and procedures, assuring that even if we are not physically in the location, we still can create a positive impact and achieve related goals. To complement the above, we are developing attributes such as versatility, adaptability to new realities and ways of working, thinking out of the box, innovating, being proactive, self-directed, and always focusing on how we can adapt or evolve in terms of the business.

What is a cause, business-related or otherwise, you are passionate about, and why?

In my role, my mission and purpose, in which I am very well invested and genuinely passionate, are not only recruiting lawyers who have actual potential to undergo the path to become the future lawyers who will outstandingly lead our integrity company in all the challenges around the Geographic markets in which SLB has presence and to whom they are delivering legal support through the hub at this very moment but instead presenting them all the tools and opportunities that we have in the company and facing them with real-life situations, through skill-based coaching and mentoring from their onboarding and further. At the same time, they fulfil the soft/hard skills required to become comprehensive professionals, which are called -not only to occupy my position- but to build a better future within and outside the company.
