How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
Our approach in managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crisis is with a proactive and strategic mindset. A perfect example is the ongoing regulatory and structural changes in Colombia’s healthcare sector. It is essential to closely monitor and understand the regulatory landscape to ensure compliance and mitigate any potential legal risks as well as find any potential business opportunities for the company. This includes staying updated on new regulations, government policies, and industry trends that may impact our organisation.
The team’s strategy aligns with the broader business strategy by working closely with key stakeholders to identify potential legal risks and opportunities. Our legal team focuses on fostering strong relationships with internal departments, such as operations, finance, and commercial, we ensure that legal considerations are integrated into decision-making processes. This collaborative approach ensures that our legal strategy supports the organisation’s resilience and ability to navigate through challenging times.
What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
In terms of recent cases or transactions, we are currently in the process of expanding our footprint in the Latin American through mergers and acquisitions. These transactions involve conducting thorough due diligence, negotiating and drafting agreements, and navigating complex regulatory frameworks. By carefully managing the legal aspects of these deals, we aim to achieve successful and seamless integration of these companies into our organisation.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession soon, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
Looking ahead, we believe that emerging technologies will have a significant impact on the legal profession soon. artificial intelligence (AI), for example, has the potential to streamline legal processes, enhance efficiency, and improve decision-making. The whole of Falck’s legal group recognises the importance of staying updated on these technological developments and integrating them into our day-to-day operations.
To ensure we stay ahead of the curve, we actively focus on emerging technologies and their implications for the legal profession, by actively trying to use some tools in our day to day. By doing so, we can leverage these tools to improve our legal operations and provide better support to the organisation. Our latest global legal group meeting was with a specific focus on these tools on our day to day, basically the meeting’s motto we “the future is here”.
