With global revenues of over $11bn, Praxair is the largest industrial gasses company in North and South America and one of the largest worldwide. The activities of the company in Colombia are shielded by a close-knit group of lawyers, who handle all legal, corporate, regulatory, governance and compliance related issues on a local operational level. Taking central involvement in business strategy, the team has a wide responsibility, for areas including commercial affairs, logistics and transportation, dealer operations, labour and employment, health care, litigation and contracts. Specific industry wide praise has been received for the team’s expertise in handling large M&A transactions, litigation, compliance and intellectual property protection. Appointed in 2016, legal and compliance manager Alejandro Acosta has already contributed immensely to both the department and the wider company as member of Paxair’s board of directors in Colombia. Prior to joining Praxair, Acosta has had a stellar legal career handling legal affairs at Millicom, Schneider Electric and CODRE.
