Renault has a widely respected legal function in Colombia, which has received recognition for its internal innovations and strong commercial focus. Rather than working as a back office support function, the team is actively involved in shaping the strategic direction of the company in the region. By constantly innovating on its internal legal service and supporting legal schemes to support new business with economic efficiency and low risk, the team has been able to change the perspective on its service to an area of income, rather than expense. In addition, the team is known for its creativity, recently having developed a contract system that allows people within the company to consult corporate contracts on the internal intranet and to receive alerts when terms are coming to an end. The team’s achievements also extend to its work on several important cases in the courts. For example, the company recently won an important arbitration decision following two years of litigation. In addition, the team was involved in a Wealth Tax nullity with a final positive decision from the courts in 2016. When asked about recent challenges faced by the legal team, Pablo Urrego, general secretary at the company shares: ‘Definitely the biggest challenge we had face and we keep facing every day as a team is producing efficient and high quality work, answering, to the multitude of issues faced by Renault Group in Colombia which has grown a lot in recent years.’
