The corporate affairs team of Terranum Group, the Colombian market leader and pioneer in the development and operation of property, is comprised of four distinct directorships according to the core business activities it supports. Containing 15 lawyers, the team is lead by highly praised Colombian legal professional Laura Vejarano, who is described by nominators as ‘very practical attorney with an acute sense of how to manage complex legal issues’. One source says: ‘Laura has a clear idea of how to handle and perform solutions to unique legal issues impacting the organisation. She understands complex legal questions and poses practical alternatives in accordance with the business needs. She also understands perfectly the goal of the legal services [team] and translates the same into solutions in the best interest of her internal clients (shareholders) and of the organisation’. The wider team features several prominent corporate lawyers, including Ana María Palomar, Pedro Puente, Nathalia Arias and Juana Sabogal. 2016 has seen the team implement an ambitious reorganisation project, which saw the team merged with the communications team – the new structure has allowed the development of robust international practices, and offers the opportunity to provide key and strategic advice to core business activities. Besides this reorganisation, the team has been praised for its efforts to seek and promote its members and provide them with an opportunity to grow within Terranum Group. Vejarano explains: ‘Our policy is to prefer internal promotions based on merit, results and commitment. None of our directors where retained under their positions, they were promoted from within. This is something our members appreciate and something that motivates them’. The team has also gained recognition for its strategic work, having raised capital from major international players and having facilitated important cases and transactions.
