What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
We have experienced a constant of M&A transactions, where we have spent over US$9bn in Logistics primarily in the US and Asia over the last three to four years.
What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?
I would say that to be successful as an in-house lawyer in our industry you must be a combination of being a generalist, very commercially savvy, with a good understanding of finance, and possessing strong leadership skills.
How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?
We are part of the most relevant country-, area-, regional-, and global leadership teams, as well as relevant investments and other committees, thus continuing to partner with our colleagues from the outset.
Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
Our purpose is “improving life for all by connecting the world,” and we bring that to life through collaboration and igniting synergies within our functions (Legal, Compliance, Communication, Sustainability, and Public and Regulatory Affairs), as well as between my functions and the rest of Maersk.
