What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

For most of 2023 we were involved in the acquisition of several of the former ALDI sites (shops and real estate).

What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?

Thorough understanding of the market and dynamics within the industry, especially within competition and marketing areas (new marketing rules on pricing, misleading statement, green washing, among others), and real estate (best location and favorable terms).

How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?

Continuously providing value-adding advice by understanding the business, the strategy of the company and the relevant legislation. Being involved in the various work streams, project groups, and remaining close to the management and relevant stakeholders have also played a key role in fostering collaboration.

I am passionate about creating value for the business, continuing to be involved and working to make a difference.
