What are the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?
My legal team has been involved in many interesting cases recently – for instance we have been deeply involved in the acquisition of Festina Finance and the listing of Netcompany Group on OTC in the US.
The legal team was also heavily involved in a case concerning data theft, which was all over the media in Denmark.
What would you say are the unique qualities required to be successful as an in-house lawyer in your industry?
To be a successful in-house lawyer, it is important to provide value-creating and solution-oriented advice. It is therefore important to be closely connected to the business and understand the commercial aspects. Further, it is important to set up the right legal team in order to support the business.
How have you fostered a closer collaboration between the legal department and your business counterparts?
I have fostered closer collaboration between the legal department and the business by consistently showing interest in ongoing matters and being proactive in providing advice rather than waiting for the business to approach legal.
Do you have a cause, business-related or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am highly passionate about driving processes and taking a proactive approach when participating in large projects. With a background in M&A and capital markets law, I have been managing numerous significant M&A projects and been responsible for two IPOs as an in-house counsel. Through these experiences, I have learned the importance of maintaining control over the process.
