Can you give an idea of the most significant cases or transactions that your legal team has recently been involved in?

Being responsible for all legal matters: The Bunker Holding legal department is a truly global department providing complete services to its +60 offices in 35 countries within the legal and compliance area. The team focuses on legal risk management tools and systems, enabling the team to work as efficiently and smartly as possible. We manage everything within the permitted area, from corporate, governance and compliance activities to large $10m+ international disputes.

Do you have an example of a time when you have come up with an innovation that improved how your legal team functions, while avoiding any large expense?

The current (and constant) change in the geopolitical environment concerning Economic Trade Sanction Compliance and export controls called for a system enabling the team to proactively screen all counterparties and transactions. Due to high internal data quality, an internal screening system could be created, saving the team costs compared to various external systems providers.

The unusual business environment created by the pandemic has been swiftly followed by the Ukraine crisis, and attendant supply chain costs rising and rising inflation. Are you now putting more emphasis on preparing for the unforeseen and, if so, what does this entail?

The pandemic and Ukraine crises have entailed an increased focus on force majeure and especially hardship provisions covering potential unforeseen consequences.
