Vice president of legal and government affairs | The AES Corporation
Giselle Marie Leger
Vice president of legal and government affairs | The AES Corporation
Firstly, can you give us an idea of the type of work your team has done recently?
Overall, our role involves the legal guidance and protection of AES Dominicana. This ensures that the company’s directors and partners can focus solely on the growth and sustainability of the company. Recently, we have been involved in the development of renewable energy projects within the nation, actively engaging the company in government tenders, and contributing to the expansion and advancement of the Natural Gas sector in both the country and the broader region.
How do you keep up to date with changes in laws and regulations relevant to your organisation’s industry?
Drawing from our experience in the energy sector, we try to actively contribute and collaborate with industry associations when there are potential regulatory changes on the horizon. Our aim is to ensure that the legal framework is not only appropriate but also complies with the established parameters and guidelines, that will allow the energy sector to develop freely.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about, and why?
An issue that I am particularly concerned with is that, during the development of renewable energy projects, there are often bureaucratic obstacles that can arise, and these can potentially impact the smooth implementation of these projects in a negative way.
