First, can you give us an idea of the type of work your team has done recently?
As the legal department of the Lifestyle Group, we handle lease agreements, concessions of commercial space, review of contracts with suppliers for the sale of products. We also manage the documentation for the relevant licenses related to the group’s operations and submit them to the Ministries of Tourism and Environment as required.
Our team is also responsible for the management of the civil liability insurance policy and customer claims related to insurance events. We follow up on claims handled by external offices we have contracted to manage litigation cases.
Finally, we are responsible for the handling of documents, permits, building agreements, joint-ventures, and the establishment of both domestic and international companies.
One of our most recent tourist real estate projects includes Royal Lake Village, featuring 79 villas and 60 flats, it was officially inaugurated by Lic. Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, the President of the Dominican Republic.
How do you keep current with changes in Dominican laws and regulations that are relevant to your organisation’s industry?
We keep up to date with changes by participating in workshops offered by the most reputable institutions in the field of business and law, alongside our active membership in the nation’s most prominent tourism associations. Above all, we stay current with changes in the Dominican landscape by conducting research for every case that warrants it.
What is a cause, business related or otherwise, that you care about and why?
The legal uncertainty that often affects foreign investors, due to the lack of professional ethics of many specialists in the field.
