How do you approach managing legal aspects during periods of instability or crises, and how does your legal strategy align with the broader business strategy to ensure the organisation’s resilience?
My main approach during a crisis period, I could mention to name a few strategies: Assuming leadership in front of my team, especially when making decisions that must be made; Being an example to my team of responsibility, sacrifice and work; Going the extra mile when circumstances require it.
By working as a team, not only the legal team but with the others, especially the heads of departments to align the general strategy of the entity in the face of the challenges that we must face thus I can translate to my staff the overall strategy set out for the head leaders and making sure of its execution according to the said plan.
What are the main cases or transactions you have been involved in recently?
In my practice we see a variety of topics, but the main ones are commercial topics, business, company management, compliance, supervision of legal issues of all operations in other countries in which we have a presence. Crisis management, claims, lawsuits, legal advice in the different areas that converge in the types of businesses within the sector to which the organisation belongs. Among many other topics.
What emerging technologies do you see as having the most significant impact on the legal profession in the near future, and how do you stay updated on these developments?
I truly believe that artificial intelligence is one of the most impactful emerging technologies and that it is being increasingly used in all professions, especially in the legal profession. In addition, advances in telepresence technologies are undoubtedly something that most positively impacts the management and supervision of all areas, operations, and countries within the organisation. These advances allow us to have a virtual presence in many countries, several times a day, which impacts us in positive ways. Advances in digital signatures allow us to execute operations in real time and quickly without waiting for documentation shipping and delivery times. Also, having large amounts of information stored in the cloud allows me to be connected and accessible wherever I am in the world.
All these resources enhance decision-making by analysing large amounts of information, decision making efficiently, this results in reducing errors and increase profitability.
