 In these circumstances, and in companies like GILDAN that operate within the manufacturing sector, it is essential to go down to the floor where our core business is, put on your boots, see the process, understand where the opportunities are and talk to people. Any legal advice must first have this knowledge in times of instability and crisis. This is what ensures assertive legal support and the necessary alignment with the organisation’s objectives and strategy. 

What measures has your company taken to embed sustainability practices into its core business operations, and how does the role of the general counsel contribute to driving and ensuring sustainable practices within the company?  

The company has incorporated ESG criteria into its business strategies. These criteria have been fundamental to Gildan’s business strategy, ensuring we execute an operating model with a mindset focused on positive environmental and social impacts for our employees, investors and the communities in which we operate. Every year the company publishes an ESG report, outlining Gildan’s performance that year and continued commitment to our goals as part of our Next Generation ESG strategy. The legal area is essential and has played its role in the transparency and safe dissemination of information.
