Annette‘s career took off as a legal officer in the financial services sector, where she quickly ascended the ranks to head the legal department before she transitioned to head the legal department of a prominent property development and management company with operations across East Africa. In this capacity, she expertly guided the business on matters related to joint venture development, litigation, contracting, and general legal requirements across a diverse portfolio that included property and facilities management, project management, and real estate advisory services. In her current role at AGRA, Annette is responsible for overseeing the legal operations of the organisation, ensuring the integrity of its governance framework, and maintaining compliance with donor, statutory, and regulatory requirements across AGRA’s 11 focus countries. She adeptly manages the board governance portfolio, providing advice and counsel to AGRA’s 13 global and distinguished board of directors, and ensuring the implementation of board decisions by management. Annette’s expertise includes managing legal risks, enhancing legal operational efficiency, eliminating inefficiencies and bureaucracies in legal procedures, developing comprehensive legal and compliance frameworks for various countries, and advising on corporate and institutional legal matters. She is particularly skilled in managing a diverse and global board. Annette is a practising advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Commercial and Corporate Laws (LLM) from the University of London.
