Head of legal, wealth, retail banking Kenya and East Africa | Standard Chartered Bank Kenya
Evelyn Gachanjah is the head of legal, wealth and retail banking for Kenya and East Africa at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya. Previously she served as legal counsel at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya and legal and regulatory compliance officer at NIC Bank (now NCBA Bank Kenya).
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Catholic University of Eastern Africa, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, a Certified Secretary Professional Course and an MA in International Relations from the United States International University. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a certified secretary and a member of the Law Society of Kenya, the Institute of Certified Secretaries as well as the East Africa Law Society.
In her career, she has received various recognitions both internally and externally including being named as first runner up Corporate (In- House) Lawyer of the Year 2022, for her outstanding legal practice in the Nairobi Legal awards by the Law Society of Kenya.
Evelyn also volunteers as the vice chairperson of the Women Council at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya, the Chairperson of the Kenya Bankers Association Legal Committee and a member of the In-House Counsel Committee of the Law Society of Kenya.
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoys cycling, knitting and reading, with her current read being Outliers by Malcom Gladwell.
