Idah Asin is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya who holds well over 14-years experience in the corporate sector. Her vast number of years has seen her navigate several fronts within the sector enabling her to be well versed in policy creation and sustainability across African corporate landscape. She is currently the head of government affairs and policy Sub Saharan Africa for Johnson & Johnson (J&J), an American pharmaceutical and medical devices company. Her career also boasts significant roles in legal and government affairs within the aviation industry including stints at Kenya Airways and Jetlink Express. 

At J&J, Idah has been pivotal in working with governments, multilateral organiSations and other stakeholders to enable access to mental health care, cancer care, and essential surgery for key conditions, through the co-creation and implementation of impactful policies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Idah worked closely and tirelessly with several African governments to ensure they had all the requisite information needed to access vaccines from Johnson & Johnson. 

While at Kenya Airways, Idah was a key member of the Government of Kenya delegation lobbying and negotiating for favourable bilateral air services agreements supporting the airline’s expansion strategy to key markets e.g. Capetown -South Africa, Victoria Falls -Zimbabwe, Hanoi -Vietnam and the USA. She was also in charge of building and maintaining government and industry relations by representing Kenya Airways to governments and other stakeholders in 45 countries worldwide, including those based in Africa, Europe and Asia and further advising on matters relating to civil aviation regulations in the various jurisdictions. 

Idah attended Makerere University, the Kenya School of Law and Strathmore Business School for her undergraduate and postgraduate studies and further holds Certification in the International Module on Global Leadership from the New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. 

Idah is a devoted mother, avid cyclist and enthusiastic mentor who currently sits on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce-Kenya chapter, the NEPAD Business Foundation and the Let Girls Learn Initiative demonstrating her commitment to both professional and societal advancement.
