Which recent political, economic or regulatory changes have impacted your work the most in recent years?
The changes in tax laws year on year have affected us. Our tax legislation is unpredictable. Investors are unable to plan effectively significantly affecting their investment in Kenya.
Are there any causes, business or otherwise, that you are passionate about?
I am passionate about the telecommunication sector and technology in general. The sector is versatile and the new frontier in the business world.
Lillian Mugo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with 17 years of experience. She is a certified public accountant and a certified public secretary. She is the head of legal affairs at Airtel Kenya and previously worked for eight years in Anjarwalla & Khanna, followed by two years in Family Bank as legal manager and assistant company secretary. She is the chairperson of the Airtel Pension Scheme overseeing management of assets of the scheme amounting to KES 1.5Billion. She is a certified project manager. Her most recent project was the separation of Airtel Money from its GSM business . She holds an LLB from the University of Nairobi and an LLM from the University of London. In her free time, she loves traveling and dancing is her fitness secret.
